Street Drama for Total Sanitation Campaign
Street Drama raising awareness and sensitizing people about five components of healthy living (safe drinking water, proper use and maintenance of toilet, personal hygiene including proper hand washing practices, indoor air pollution and solid waste management) was successfully conducted at the streets of Nagarkot VDC by the volunteers of Paschim Paaila under SWASH project Nagarkot. 





The street drama was organized for the success of Total Sanitation Campaign running at Nagarkot VDC starting from 28th August to 5th September, 2014. After some days of practice, volunteers performed their first drama in Jalpa Devi Temple in Telkot on the day of Teej, the festival of Hindu women. “I liked the drama and the message in the drama was very useful” said by one of the viewers after the drama. The feedback collected after the drama was positive and they appreciated the effort of the performers. 



The first day drama helped the volunteers to know the real scenario of the Nagarkot and were all prepared for their next performance. Accordingly the 12 shows gone fantastic with the support of local people of Nagarkot VDC and also with assistance of Mr. Rajesh Byanjankar, Project Assistant, ENPHO. 






The drama group performed dramas in different places of Nagarkot VDC including community, school, bus stop and market areas. The feedbacks collected after the drama encouraged the volunteers and the objective to make the viewer aware about complete sanitation was found to be fulfilled.






The volunteers also performed some dramas reaching to inner villages along with the Sarangi players. They added up extra flavor in enhancing the supporting environment for performing drama. The music along the drama caught the attention of the people around the village. Everybody enjoyed the drama along with the message through music.

Paailas for Epedimic Free Nepal
“The journey that started to control diarrhea epidemic at Jajarkot and western part of Nepal in 2009 has continued for four years and will continue till we achieve epidemic free Nepal,” committed Buddha Bajracharya, Campaign coordinator at Paschim Paaila in “Diyo Lightning Program” at Swayambhunath on 17th July organized to celebrate 4th Anniversary of Paschim Paaila marking Peace of all departed soul due to Epidemic and Disaster in Nepal.


                                                                        “When we started our journey we did not do big things, we just distributed Piyush and Jeevan jal. It looks simple but this helped in overcoming the epidemic,” shared Giri Khatri, Immediate past president of Paschim Paaila. He also urged all the participants to join hands for achieving the goal of epidemic free Nepal. “We youths need to identify where we are needed the most, is it these less vulnerable urban areas or those vulnerable rural areas?” he motivated all.

Paailas (volunteers of Paschim Paaila) from different area and time period along with wannabe paailas and other supporters of Paschim Paaila team gathered at Swayabhunath and wished for its successful completion of four years and prayed peace to all the departed soul due to epidemic and disasters in Nepal on different time periods.

Environmentalists Bhusan Tuladhar and Shriju Pradhan along with employees of Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) joined the program to motivate all the Paailas to continue their good work. Congratulating Paschim Paaila for their four years completion, Kamal Tara Bajracharya, Youth Focal Person from Family Planning Association Nepal (FPAN) expressed that FPAN is willing to work in coordination with youths. Merina Shakya, Network coordinator of Paschim Paaila thanked all supporters and well-wishers and expected to get continuous help from all. Bhintuna Shrestha from Resource Centre Network Nepal (RCNN) praised all the activities of Paschim Paaila and wished for further development of team and epidemic free Nepal.
All the participants expressed their commitment to contribute for the epidemic free Nepal and light diyo to pray peace to the departed souls caused by epidemic.

The program ended with a group photograph with the slogan “Epidemic free Nepal: Let’s not face another epidemic in Nepal.”

पुर्ण सरसफाईका कुरा “खानेपानी तथा सरसफाई मञ्चमा”

“सरसफाई कुनै अवस्था हैन जसलाई हामी प्राप्त गर्न सक्छौ, यो त एउटा प्रक्रिया हो जुन सजिलै छोटो समयमा पुरा हुदैन, यसलाई पुरा गर्न त हरेक व्यक्तिले आफ्नो दैनिकी नै सरसफाईमय बनाउनु पर्छ ।” यहि भनाईलाई नै मुख्य मन्त्र बनाएर राजधानीको नयाँ वानेश्वरमा आयोजित “खानेपानी तथा सरसफाई मञ्च (WASH FORUM) भन्ने एक छलफल कार्यक्रमको “नेपालमा पुर्ण सरसफाई अभियानः सिकाई तथा अगाडीका पाईलाहरु”  भन्ने विषयमा जनस्वास्थ्य तथा वातावरण संस्था (एन्फो) का काशिकान्त ठाकुरले आफ्ना कुराहरु राख्नुभयो । उहाँले अगाडी थप्नुभयो “नेपालमा सरसफाई भन्ने वित्तिकै सबैको घरमा चर्पि भन्ने बुझिन्छ तर पुर्ण सरसफाईमा चर्पिको गन्ति भन्दा पनि खुला दिशामुक्त क्षेत्रको गणना गर्नुपर्छ र यसका साथै खानेपानी तथा फोहोर व्यवस्थापन पनि राम्रो हुनुपर्छ ।”

कार्यक्रममा, नेपालका विभिन्न जिल्लामा भईआएका पुर्ण सरसफाई अभियानको उदाहरण र त्यसमा प्रयोग गरिएका विभिन्न तौर तरिका जस्तैः समुदायमा आधारित पुर्ण सरसफाई, विद्यालयमा आधारित पुर्ण सरसफाई आदीका बारेमा पनि जानकारी प्रदान गरिएको थियो ।

अन्त्यमा, सरसफाईका सरोकारवालाहरु भनेको एउटा सामान्य व्यक्ति (जसको घरमा चर्पि छैन र बाहिर खुला ठाउँमा दिशापिसाब गर्छ) देखि लिएर विभिन्न सरकारी तथा गैरसरकारी संघ संस्थाका व्यक्तिहरु हुन् र पुर्ण सरसफाईमा यी सबैको भुमिका महत्वपुर्ण हुन्छ भन्दै कार्यक्रमको समापन गर्नुभयो ।

कार्यक्रममा विभिन्न १३ वटा संघ संस्था तथा कलेजबाट  ४० भन्दा बढी युवाहरुको सहभागीता रहेको थियो ।
“खानेपानी तथा सरसफाई मञ्च (WASH FORUM) एउटा मासिक छलफल कार्यक्रम हो जुन हरेक अङ्ग्रेजि महिनाको अन्तिम शुक्रवार हुने गर्दछ । कार्यक्रमको आयोजना एन्फो र “पश्चिम पाईला” ले संयुक्त रुपमा गदै आएको छ ।
