WASH Led Youth Empowerment Project Kicked off

The WASH Led youth Empowerment Project was formally kicked off with the objective of creating environmentally sound and healthy community through youth led WASH promotion. 
The project was implemented in two communities of Kathmandu valley namely Chaysal community of Lalitpur and Pathivara Tole of Kapan VDC.  This project is supported by UN-Habitat Urban Youth Fund and also "paschim paaila" is a grantee of Youth Fund for the fiscal year 2010/11 from Nepal. The technical support is provided by Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO). "The project aimed to empower the local youths of two communities of Kathmandu with the perspective of entrepreneurship in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector" said Giri Khatri, Project Coordinator. "Also, at the end of project more than 50 youths are expected to get skillful training on WASH and they may run their business and career in this sector", he added. "The program will focus on water scarcity, inadequate sanitation and improper hygiene behavior of community people and youths of the community will play as a youth WASH ambassador to create environmentally sound and healthy community and their little effort will also equally accountable," said Phurba Sange Moktan, Coordinator, "paschim paaila". 
Miss. Kamala K.C, Campaign Coordinator, "paschim paaila" said, "We are not only empower the youths but also strengthen our capacity and skill ourselves and create platform for youth engagement through youth to youth approach".  "paschim paaila" is a informal youth network which focused its works in Environmental health and Emergency.
